BLS (Basic Life Support) is intended for healthcare professionals and medical students. It includes advanced resuscitation techniques such as two-rescuer CPR, AED use, team dynamics, and bag-valve-mask ventilation.
Heartsaver CPR, also offered by the AHA, is designed for non-medical individuals, such as teachers, coaches, security guards, childcare workers, and the general public. It covers adult, child, and infant CPR, choking relief, and AED use but does not go into as much clinical detail as BLS.
Yes, you can renew your AHA BLS certification at any time before it expires. We recommend renewing within 6 months of your expiration date to avoid any gaps in certification.
Our BLS renewal classes are streamlined for returning students.
If your CPR or BLS card has expired, you must retake the full certification course. The American Heart Association does not offer a grace period for expired cards. Don’t worry—our classes are designed to get you recertified quickly and efficiently.
